A water shut down is being reported in Scituate.
Town officials say the Department of Public Works is doing maintenance to the water service line on Egypt Ave. and a water valve malfunctioned during the shutdown.
As a result there is a loss of water pressure, or in some cases no water, in the neighborhood of Egypt Beach Rd. to Standish Ave.
While repairs are underway, officials say there may be some discoloration in the water as the service is restored.
Residents are being urged to take necessary precautions and check for discoloration and to allow the water to flush before using and check before doing laundry.
Officials say they plan on having the water pressure restored by 5:00 pm.
