Pedstrian Struck And Killed In Quincy

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Quincy Wednesday morning.

Quincy Police say that at approximately 9:25 a.m. they received several 911 calls reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle in front of the 1000 Southern Artery apartment complex, near the intersection of South St. and Southern Artery.

First responders arrived on scene moments later and attended to the victim, identified as 85 year-old John Collins from Quincy.

Collins was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with life-threatening injuries where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the driver, identified only a 63-year-old man from Quincy, called 911 and remained on scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office and the Quincy Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
