A Milton man was sentenced following his conviction for drug trafficking charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that 26-year-old Brandy Soto-Lara was sentenced on Wednesday to five years in prison and four years of supervised release.
The sentence follows Lara’s guilty plea in October 2023 to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
Officials say over 400 grams of cocaine and over 40 grams of fentanyl was seized during a search of Soto-Lara’s apartment in November 2018.
That search also resulted in the recovery of $6,000, a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number, firearm parts and ammunition.
The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods program which seeks to bring together, “all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.”
