A Randolph man is facing charges following an attempted robbery.
Swansea Police say that shortly before 1 p.m. Monday officers responded to 330 Swansea Mall Dr. (Route 118) for a report of an attempted robbery.
Officers were told that two men approached a courier making a drop at BayCoast Bank, showed a gun and demanded money.
The courier responded by firing two shots at the men who fled the scene in a U-Haul.
Police say the U-Haul was later found on Reed St. on fire.
It was learned that two men were seen leaving Reed St. in a Jeep and Rhode Island State Police subsequently stopped a Jeep matching that description and detained the driver, identified as 29-year-old Giovany Fouyolle.
He was the only occupant of the vehicle and is being held by Rhode Island State Police as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Massachusetts to face charges which are pending at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing and anyone with information is being asked to contact the Swansea Police Department at 508-674-8464.
