Crews in Pembroke were called to the scene of a brush fire at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Capt. Jordan Hill tells WATD News that the event serves as a cautious reminder to people about steps they need to take when burning yard waste.
He also adds that regulations and requirements vary from community to community.
Hill says they respond to anywhere between five and ten brush fires per burning season and that open burning only allows for brush, grass, and other yard waste and doesn’t apply to trash such as construction materials.
