In Plymouth, there’s good news about Stephens Field, and that is, that the project to revitalize the park by the sea is heading toward completion. And, according to David Gould, Director of Marine and Environmental Affairs, it’s beginning to look more like a park than a construction site…
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more…
David Gould says Stephens Field is a long standing project…
“…that’s been underway in design and permit for quite some time, probably went to construction early fall of last year, and we’re progressing and making good progress to date.”
And that progress includes:
“We have all the new tennis courts and pickle ball courts and fencing up. We’ve made significant progress on all of the new walkways in the park. We’re currently working on utilities. The playground structure is currently underway as well and so there’s quite a bit of work going on —site’s starting to be leveled out—so, it’s starting to a little bit look more like a park than a construction site.”
There will be three new tennis courts and also four pickle ball courts, and
“…a brand new basketball court and there’ll be some improvements made to the softball-baseball field as well. There’ll be some improvements to the boat launch area and a new construction building. So, pretty much everything at the site is going to be new and/or improved so it should be a pretty significant change.”
Opening date has not been set yet, but the goal is the beginning of July.
