Crews were called to the scene of a fire at a senior living facility in Plymouth.
Fire Chief Neil Foley says that shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday they received an alarm and several phone calls reporting a fire at the Cherry Hill Apartments at 128 Court St.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a unit on the fourth floor and residents actively evacuating after being alerted by the building’s alarm system.
Foley says it was determined that a single activated sprinkler head had kept the fire from spreading until firefighters arrived.
The fire was contained to a single apartment on the fourth floor and a preliminary investigation has concluded that the fire originated in a closet where the unit’s washer and dryer machines are located.
Two residents were transported by ambulance to an area hospital as a precaution and two residents were displaced.
The fire remains under investigation.
