One Killed After Canoe Capsizes In Halifax

One person has died after their canoe capsized.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office says that shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, Halifax Police received a 911 call for a report of a capsized canoe with several people in the water at the boat ramp at 47 White Island Rd.
Crews arrived on scene and found three individuals, including one adult and two children, who had exited the water safely.
However, a second adult was reported missing below the water’s surface.
The Plymouth County Technical Rescue Dive Team provided assistance along with several local fire departments.
The dive team located the male victim at approximately 12:42 p.m. and he was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s name has not yet been release and the incident remains under investigation.
