A sentence was handed down earlier today for Emanuel Lopes a man convicted of killing Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna and bystander Vera Adams in February of the 2018.
Norfolk County Assistant District Attorney Greg Connor said that the killings were unnecessary as there was no threat to Lopes, especially from 77-year-old Vera Adams.
However, Lopes’ attorney, Larry Tipton argued that while Lopes is responsible his actions weren’t premeditated.
In the end Judge Beverly Cannone sentenced Lopes to consecutive life sentences with the possibility of parole after 40 years
