In Plymouth, most folks associate Ed Bradley with the fire department since he spent almost fifty years as a firefighter, the last 14 years as Chief. But, having retired a couple of years back and looking for another way to serve the town, he applied for and was appointed to the Community Preservation Committee, or CPC. He now chairs the Committee…

Although Ed Bradley wants to preserve open space, he has another concern:
“…open space; obviously I have an interest in. Probably my priority is housing because that’s a hot topic issue. It’s hard to find affordable housing.”
One of the factors that a lot of people aren’t aware of is that the CPC doesn’t decide how the money collected by a 1.5 percent surcharge on their real estate tax bill is spent. Folks must apply to the Committee for use of CPA funds.
“People have their own idea and they bring those ideas to the Committee. And it’s those ideas that are brought to us that we make recommendations on.”
Ed Bradley was appointed by the Select Board at their meeting on June 11th, and at that same meeting Bill Keohan was not reappointed after serving on the CPC as its founding chairman for more than two decades:
“Bill Keohan, he’s a tough act to follow, I’ve got to say.”
Then, at the first meeting following his own appointment, Bradley says:
“I was elected as Vice Chair and Bill Fornaciari was going to be Chair, and things changed in his life and he decided that he didn’t have the time to be able to be on the CPC.”
This resulted in Bradley’s election as Chair and Tim Grandy as Vice Chair.
The next meeting of the CPC is August 22nd.
