A former Stoughton police officer was arrested Wednesday for allegedly murdering a young pregnant woman who authorities say was to keep her silence about his longtime sexual involvement with her.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says thirty-eight-year-old Matthew Farwell of North Easton had been indicted by a Boston federal grand jury for strangling Sandra Birchmore in her Canton apartment three years ago and staging her body to make it appear it was a suicide.Stephen Kelleher of the Boston FBI office details Farwell’s arrest.
Authorities say that Farwell was angry upon learning he was the father of Birchmore’s child and became violent fearing she was going to disclose their relationship that led up to him murdering her.
