A verdict has been handed down for a Marshfield woman charged with fatally stabbing her husband.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that on Friday a jury found 49-year-old Christine Ricci guilty of Murder in the Second Degree, and one count of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on January 28, 2021 when Marshfield Police were dispatched to 679 Moraine St. after receiving a 911 call reporting a medical emergency.

First responders performed lifesaving measures before the victim, identified as 51-year-old Michael Ricci, was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Medical personell reported that Michael Ricci had two stab wounds, one in the front left chest and another in the upper left back shoulder.

The District Attorney’s Office says an investigation determined that the Riccis had a verbal altercation prior to the incident, and Christine Ricci retrieved a knife and stabbed Michael Ricci in the heart and in his back.

Sentencing will take place August 22 at 3 p.m. in Plymouth Superior Court.
