A request to place question on the November ballot approving a $173 Million Debt Exclusion for a new school was the topic of the Milton Select Board’s meeting on Tuesday, with Board Member Erin Bradley voicing her support.
However, the Board’s Secretary John Keohane, expressed some concerns.
The Board’s Vice-Chair Roxanne Musto opposed the measure saying more information is needed before it is put to voters.
Fellow Select Board Member Benjamin Zoll participated through zoom and replied to Musto’s comments in a manner that earned a rebuke from Board Chair Richard Wells.
Musto replied to what she called a “personal attack.”
Wells said that while overcrowding is an issue, he believes it’s not a fiscally wise decision for the town at this time.
The measure failed with a 3-2 vote after which Board Member Benjamin Zoll on Zoom made a motion for a similar question calling for a smaller roughly a $150 Million Debt Exclusion, with Wells stating he was unsure if they could vote on the matter again.
The Board did end up voting on that measure, which also failed with a 3-2 vote, Zoll then signed out of the meeting in protest.
