Two people are facing gun and drug charges following an investigation.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that Massachusetts State Police responded to a fatal fentanyl overdose in Plymouth in June and seized the victim’s cell phone.
Through analysis it was determined that a number found on the phone likely belonged to an individual who provided the victim with the fatal bag of fentanyl.
It was determined that the cell phone number belonged to 47-year-old Claudette Ylitalo.
Multiple undercover purchases of fentanyl, methadone, and cocaine were made during the course of the investigation and On August 19, State Police sought and received a search warrant for an apartment at 2 Tide View Path in Plymouth.
That warrant was executed at 6:30 a.m. Thursday and investigators seized an amount of suspected Fentanyl and suspected liquid Methadone.
In addition, investigators also seized a black and silver 9 mm handgun with a defaced serial number resulting in 26-year-old James Howe being taken into custody.
Ylitalo is being charged with one count each of Possession of Class A Substance, Fentanyl, 2.5 grams, and Possession of Methadone.
Howe is being charged with one count each of Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card.
Both are scheduled to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court.
The Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit, assisted by the MSP Gang Unit South Team, CINRET South Team, and Plymouth Police took part in the joint investigation.
