In Plymouth, after the vote count for the September 3rd Republican primary for state Senate, candidate Kari MacRae lost the Republican primary to state Rep.Matt Muratore by 45 votes, this…certified by the Secretary of State, according to Muratore. MacRae asked for recounts in each of the 8 towns that encompass the Plymouth and Barnstable district. The recount narrowed the loss to 39 votes. So now, MacRae wants a court order to compel Plymouth town officials to count them again.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more.
In a hand delivered letter, dated September 13th, to Town Clerk Kelly McElreath, MacRae stated that the letter would serve as notice that she will contest in court, the election result in the Town of Plymouth. And, she said further, that the reason for this is: “based on the widespread and systemic irregularities identified in the mail-in ballots, improperly cast and invalidly counted, in the Town of Plymouth.”
Asked to comment on this allegation against Town Clerk Kelly McElreath and her staff, Selectman Chair Dick Quintal has this to say:
“I’ve won some elections and I’ve lost some elections. It’s very hard when you lose an election—the emotions—you ask yourself all kinds of questions. That being said, I have full confidence in Kelly McElreath and her entire staff in the Town Clerk’s office.”
