Residents and officials gathered Saturday for the rededication of the Jack Cantwell Field in Marshfield.
Cantwell was a volunteer for the Marshfield Youth Baseball League for forty years and served as the league’s president.
U.S. Senator Ed Markey compared Cantwell to actor Kevin Costner’s character in the movie “Field of Dreams” where a baseball field was built in a cornfield.
Cantwell was praised for his decades of support for youth baseball and the need for a better ball field.
Jack Cantwell was appreciative of the community’s support.
The Jack Cantwell Field is located on Webster Street in Marshfield.
