A man has been convicted in connection with a deadly shooting at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree.
The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office says that a jury convicted Julius Hammond-Desir, of first-degree murder for killing 26-year-old Dijoun Beasley on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
State and local police were dispatched to the South Shore Plaza around 3 p.m. for a report of shots fired with a person down.
The Plaza was evacuated and those still inside were ordered to shelter in place.
Beasley was found by emergency personnel with at least one apparent gunshot wound.
He was transported to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries and died several days later.
Braintree police say there was an “encounter” between the two men inside the Forever 21 Store where Hammond-Desir allegedly approached Beasley, pulled out a firearm and shot him.
It is then believed that Hammond-Desir immediately fled the mall.
Hammond-Desir is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in Norfolk Superior Court.
