A Marshfield man has been handed down a sentence of 20 years to life in connection with a Pembroke crash that left a teen girl dead and two others injured, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
Gregory Goodsell was previously convicted of 2nd degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence, operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of property damage in connection with the 2019 crash.
On December 29, 2019, 13-year-old Claire Zisserson was riding in a motor vehicle with her mother Elizabeth and friend Kendall Zemotel, when Goodsell, intoxicated from a Christmas party, ran a red light on Route 139, and crashed into their car around 7 a.m.
Investigators determined that Goodsell had with a Blood alcohol content of 0.266, and under the influence of cocaine, when he passed through a red light at 67 m.p.h. before broadsiding the Subaru. Police also located a bottle of whiskey, a beer can, two nip bottles, marijuana and a pipe inside Goodsell’s vehicle.
All three were seriously injured, Claire Zisserson did not survive the crash.
In addition the District Attorney’s Office says Goodsell was also sentenced to serve 8 years to 8 years and one day from and after that sentence for Operating Under the Influence Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Should he receive parole, Goodsell was also sentenced to serve five years of probation with conditions that he stay away and have no contact with the families, he undergo substance and mental health evaluations, not operate a motor vehicle or possess a driver’s license in any state, and perform 50 hours of community service every year of probation. Goodsell will also remain on parole for life.
