The program turnaround has been impressive for Norwell football.
Just a few short years ago, dwindling numbers left the Clippers fighting an uphill battle each season in the South Shore League.
Norwell entered last season under the radar, but sprinted to a one-loss regular season, an SSL Sullivan title, and the top seed in the Division 6 playoffs behind a deep and talented senior class.
For Coach John Willis, now in his third season at the helm, the follow up act seemed to be a tall task.
Somehow, Norwell has managed not to miss a beat this season despite losing over 20 players from last year’s senior class, and breaking in an entirely new offensive line.
Returning South Shore League MVP Will Bostrom has been a big piece of the puzzle. As has sensational sophomore quarterback Jack Luccarelli.
A 5-1 start and the top position in the SSL table is more than just two players, though, and shows just how far the Norwell program has come in such a short time.

On Sunday night, Luccarelli and Bostrom, along with fellow Clipper captains Joey Perniola, Drew Lazcano, Dante Tordiglione Jr, and Ryan Daly, joined the Sports Exchange to discuss their win over Middleboro and the season thus far.
With recent results around the rest of the league leaving a clear path to back to back titles for Norwell, the group is ready to lock in.
Fueled by memories of a disappointingly early exit at the hands of eventual champion Fairhaven in last year’s playoffs, the Clippers are intent on adding multiple pieces of hardware to the trophy case this season.
