A Brockton man is facing drug charges following a motor vehicle pursuit in Rockland.
Rockland Police say that shortly before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday a gray Mazda was stopped at a traffic light at the corner of West Water St. and Plain St. and didn’t move after two light cycles.
Upon approaching the vehicle it was determined that the driver was unconscious.
The driver would not identify himself and fled the scene where another police cruiser arrived.
Officers pursued the vehicle for roughly a mile before the driver bailed out and the car crashed into a mailbox.
A foot pursuit then ensued through several yards before the driver was taken into custody.
He still refused to identify himself and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
An investigation later determined him to be 45-year-old Corey Wilson and officers also discovered drug paraphernalia, 2.4 grams of apparent crack cocaine, and 30 grams of white powder believed to be fentanyl.
Police say Wilson is now being charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl; Possession of a Class B Drug; OUI Drugs; Operating to Endanger; Failure to Stop For Police; Failure to identify self on motor vehicle stop; Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; Leaving the scene causing property damage; Disorderly Conduct; Resisting Arrest; Red Light Violations; Marked Lanes Violations; and Speeding.
It was also discovered that Wilson has three outstanding warrants for Operating a motor vehicle a suspended license; Possession with intent to distribute Class A drug; and Possession of a Class B drug.
