For the second straight season, the MIAA high school football state championship games will be played over three weekdays at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
Super Bowl week kicks off with two games on Wednesday night, December 4, at 5:30 and 8:00. Three games each on Thursday and Friday, December 5 and 6 will follow, played at 3:00, 5:30, and 8:00.
Six area teams will compete for state championships, with Duxbury and Scituate (Div. 4) meeting for the second straight year, Xaverian (Div. 1) looking to repeat, and Randolph (Div. 8), Mansfield (Div. 3), and Mashpee (Div. 7) returning to Gillette.
As the MIAA once again trades the pageantry of “Super Bowl Saturday” for a three-day, weeknight slate, the questions of where teams will be scheduled and who gets the primetime slots crop up.
The schedule is expected to be announced on Monday, November 25, but on this week’s Sports Exchange, Quinn, Johnny, and Brendan put together their ideal schedules for Super Bowl week.
