Several South Shore communities assisted Marshfield firefighters battle a three-alarm fire that destroyed a home Wednesday and damaged a neighboring home.
The fire broke out just before noon in a single-family home at 64 Sheridan Drive.
The house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived and wind-whipped flames threatened homes on either side.
Town Administrator Michael Maresco was at the scene and tells WATD News that quick work by firefighters prevented flames from spreading.
A public works crew spotted the fire and ran to the burning home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No one was home when the fire broke out. There were no injuries.
