Crews responded to a fire at the former Barker Tavern.
Scituate Fire officials say that shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday they received a report of a fire at the Barker House.
Crews arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the building.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control after discovering a fire in the floor and entryway.
There was a wedding reception taking place during the fire and the attendees were evacuated and moved to a nearby hotel where the reception resumed.
No injuries were reported, but the entrance way sustained significant damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but officials say it likely started in a mulch bed adjacent to the entrance and extended into the wall of the building.
