Meet our Pet of the Week, Biscuit

by | Nov 10, 2024 | Pet of the Week

Biscuit is like that extra cup of coffee, he is that boost of stamina and energy to get you through the day, he is your future friend that will greet you with a big smile and a wagging tail. Meet Biscuit, the puppy you’ve been looking for!

Biscuit’s current home is the Scituate Animal Shelter but he needs a permanent place with a lovable owner! Biscuit is about a year old, and is an extremely adorable mixed-breed pup. Unfortunately, Biscuit lacks some vital, early-life training skills so he can be a little rambunctious at times. It would be great if an owner with dog training experience could take him in.

Since Biscuit is so spirited, it would be better if he had an equally high-energy dog sibling to play with. Biscuit would probably chase any cats around too much. It is also suggested Biscuit does not live in a close-knit apartment complex as he does like to use his little puppy voice sometimes to bark enthusiastically.

With the right love and care, Biscuit will thrive even more! He is currently working on his training but crate training would be a good thing for him to practice. He is a true puppy at the end of the day, so a lot of energy, loves to play, and is very cute. He loves other people and is friendly with everyone! If you are the stability and patience Biscuit needs, please follow the instructions below to look into adopting this little pup!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

If you are interested in a pet but want to see them during shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, it’s recommended that you email adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there. We only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.

Open shelter hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm for you to view adoptable pets. You can apply for an animal at the shelter during our open hours or via the email listed here. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.

Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and it’s been determined you are the best fit. The shelter does not operate on a first come, first served basis.

Hearing back from us if you’ve applied:  We always try our best to get back to applicants, but we do hope you understand that we sometimes receive so many applications for the same animal that it becomes impossible to get back to everyone. Please know we are very grateful for your interest and that our busy staff and volunteers are trying our best to respond–while we are also busy caring for our animals.

Interested in adopting?  Next steps:

1. Find a pet:  You may view pets online at the blue button below OR during open hours (Wednesdays 1:30 – 6 or Saturdays 10 – 2).  We kindly ask you to read the full profile to see if a pet is a good fit.

2.  No general applications:   Please apply for a specific animal in our care.  We do not accept applications for ‘any dog’ or ‘any cat.’ Instead, please tell us the animal’s name in your application.

3. Apply for a pet:  You may apply during our open hours or ask for an application by emailing us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org  We’ll send a questionnaire to ensure that the pet is ideal for you as well as an Animal Adoption Application.

4. Meet the pet: After submitting an application, we’ll reach out if you and the pet are a match and will schedule a time for you to meet in person. Generally, we ask that you be ready to take the pet with you that day to minimize his/her time in the shelter.

5.If you already own a dog:  After your application has been approved, we require dogs to meet at our Shelter under the supervision of our staff. We suggest that all adoptions start with a 7-day trial period to ensure compatibility.
