The South Shore’s Morning News does their weekly segment, Paws N’ Claws, every Tuesday at 9:22am. Rob and Beth were excited to bring on Bob Prescott this morning. Bob is the Emeritus Sanctuary Director for the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and he talked about what happens to sea turtles when ocean temperatures drop below 55 degrees.
Bob explained the vital conservation efforts for local sea turtles, what to do if you encounter a “cold stunned” sea turtle on the beach, and the efforts put forth by the New England Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital in Quincy to get our turtle friends through the winter unharmed. If you happen to find a vulnerable sea turtle, please call these numbers listed here and a conservation team will be out to take care of the turtle.
