One man was rescued from a burning building.
Middleborough Fire officials say that at around 9:15 p.m. Monday they received a phone call reporting a structure fire on Locust St.
Crews arrived on scene to find a house with a fully involved first floor.
An aggressive search was made once firefighters were informed that the occupant may still be in the home.
The occupant, identified as a 67-year-old man, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, at this time his condition is not known.
In addition, a firefighter suffered a minor ear laceration and they were treated at the scene.
Officials say the bulk of the fire was extinguished at about 12:30 a.m., but crews remained on the scene throughout the morning to extinguish hot spots.
The incident remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal, but officials say that, at this time, it does not appear to be intentional.
Bridgewater, Carver, Lakeville, and Wareham all provided mutual aid.
