A Marshfield man is accused of killing his 80-year-old roommate during an argument over preparing Thanksgiving dinner in their 853 Main St. Marshfield home.
Sixty-five-year-old Richard Lombardi is being held pending a dangerousness hearing after he pleaded not guilty in Plymouth District Court Friday to charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery on a person over age 60.
Prosecutors say that Lombardi told police that he became angry at his roommate, Frank Griswold, when he got too close to food he was cooking for Thanksgiving on Wednesday night.
Police say that Lombardi came up behind Griswold, grabbed him, and tossed him aside, causing him to fall and strike his head. Griswold later died of his injuries.
Lombardi’s attorney said the incident was an accident and his client and Griswold have been friends for 30 years.
Lombardi is expected back in court on Wednesday.
