Meet our Pet of the Week, Addy

by | Dec 29, 2024 | Pet of the Week

Some words that describe our Pet of the Week Addy, the cat: friendly, fun, sweet, cuddle-bug, energetic, and that is just to name a few! Addy is a wonderful cat to welcome into your home. He loves children and dogs, so if you already have pets or kids, be assured that Addy will be their new friend! Addy isn’t the biggest fan of other cats so he will need to be the solo feline in your household.

Addy is from the Furget Me Not, Inc. organization, where he has been up for adoption. Addy is a male cat, a little over a year old, is house trained, and is up to date on vaccinations as well as being neutered. You may notice Addy’s left eye looks a little different and is slightly closed compared to the right eye. He may need eye removal surgery soon but this would be the best choice for Addy’s health. Do not let this deter you from meeting Addy or possibly adopting him. He has a great personality and a lot of life ahead of him. It would be best if the future owner can give Addy a good level of attention, play fetch with him, be there for his vocal musings, and match his cheerful energy.

About Us:

We are an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that’s a friend and resource to people and animals alike! We run entirely off of donations and 100% of donations go towards animal care such as vetting, grooming, food and supplies. We hope to keep pets with their owners whenever possible and when that’s best for the animal(s) and families through our pet owner assistance programs.
When rehoming is needed, we are licensed in Massachusetts as a foster based rescue and able to accept surrendered pets into our foster program to then be adopted. We do not charge a surrender fee for pet(s), and we pride ourselves on having a judgement free and easy surrender process as well as a “foster to adopt” practice.

Our Mission : To provide rehoming resources to local animal control officers and pet owners with a focus on hunting breeds, seniors, and special needs pets.

Adoption Policy

All pets are evaluated medically and behaviorally before being placed in foster homes and placed up for adoption. Dogs and cats go to potential adopter’s homes on a foster or “trial” basis to begin with. We supply everything that they need to get started so there is no upfront cost. We provide the guidance and support needed to have a successful experience for both you and the pet. Depending on the pet, you may find out whether it’s a good fit or not within a few days or it may take weeks. Regardless, our goal is to make sure it’s a good match and that both you and the pet are happy. We pride ourselves on a streamlined foster to adopt process and are committed to being matchmakers.

“Fostering to Adopt” Program

All animals that come into our organization go into foster homes to begin with. We supply everything that they need to get started. We provide the guidance and support needed to have an enjoyable experience for both you and the pet. We are always in need of foster homes and sometimes those foster homes turn into adopters. Or you may be thinking of adopting and we then suggest you “Foster to Adopt.” The foster period could last a week or more. Our goal is to make sure it’s a good fit for you and the pet before you officially adopt. We are proud of our streamlined foster to adopt process and are committed to being pretty great matchmakers (if we do say so ourselves!) The majority of the dogs that come to us are from Massachusetts’ hunters who no longer want their hunting dogs. These dogs have never been in a home before and require some extra TLC. Foster homes are integral to getting all dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs into adoptable homes.
