Google is constantly thinking of ways to make our lives easier. It seems as if people have multiple Gmail addresses for different areas of their lives. And that is how Gmail+ comes about.
On his weekly segment, Tech Talk, David Snell of ACT Smart I.T. tells us how we can maximize our Gmail productivity in his blog which you can find the full version by clicking here.
The Gmail + trick uses what’s called “plus addressing” to quickly create unique email addresses that can receive mail in an existing email account.
All you have to do is add a “+” symbol and any word or combination of characters after your username and before the “@” symbol. Gmail will deliver messages sent to each variation in your main inbox.
David also has easy steps for you to start using the Gmail+:
Here’s how you set up your alias email addresses:
Log into your Gmail account
Click on the GEAR icon on the upper right
Click on the Accounts and Import menu
Go to the “Send Mail As”
Select “Add another email address”
Enter the name you want the recipient to see (This can be your actual name or anything you like)
Enter the Gmail + Email address
Be sure to click the check box “Treat as an alias” and click “Next Step”
