Promises made; promises kept.

The Scituate Sailors football team made a promise to themselves last year after a thorough defeat at Gillette at the hands of rival Duxbury that the 2024 season would end on a sweeter note than the last.

Their commitment through the offseason was on display in September, as the Sailors quickly identified themselves as one of the top teams in the area.

A last second Hail Mary lifted Scituate over Foxboro on opening night, and would stand the season as the closest game the Sailors would find themselves in all year.

High powered offense and defensive dominance led to a league title and an undefeated regular season. It was a winning recipe that proved just as potent in the playoffs.

With a 29-13 victory over Duxbury last Thursday night, Scituate secured it’s first ever 13-0 season. Reports suggest their may be a perfect season in the pre-Super Bowl era of the 1960s, but this year’s team left no doubt – the 2024 Scituate Sailors were the best in program history.

On Sunday night, Scituate’s captains Joey Burke, Lawson Foley, Sean Coyne, and Wyllys Ames, and fellow seniors Chris Capparella and Bronson Bossey joined the Sports Exchange to take us through their impressive and dominant Super Bowl victory.

They left nothing unsaid – from their thoughts on a challenging semifinal, to the sweet vengeance of beating Duxbury.
