The South Shore will be joining the nation in celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day this weekend.
There are many events planned.
Plymouth No Place for Hate is hosting a weekend of events.
It begins Friday at seven p.m. with a screening of “I am MLK Junior” at the Plimoth Patuxet Museums.
On Saturday there will be a day of service featuring a food drive from nine AM to one PM. It will be held at three locations, The Market at Pinehills, Clements Market, and Church of the Pilgrimage. The food will be distributed to food banks.
At Plymouth’s Church of the Pilgrimage on Saturday from nine-thirty to twelve-thirty, volunteers are needed to prepare homeless kindness kits.
On Sunday, there will be a service at the Church of the Pilgrimage at ten-thirty followed by a luncheon. Then beginning at one, there will be a program featuring guest speaker Rev Rashaan Hall, president of the Urban League of Massachusetts.
The Pilgrim Church in Duxbury will hold a Koinonia fellowship on Sunday afternoon at three. At seven PM there will be a musical performance by the Snug Harbor Chorus.
On Monday, Cohasset will hold a breakfast from nine to eleven AM at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Avenue.
Also Monday, Scituate will hold its fourth annual MLK event at three PM at the Scituate Performing Arts Center.
In Quincy, the annual MLK Breakfast will be held Monday at nine AM in the Terrell Room on Quarry Street. Guest speaker will be former Boston Police commissioner William Gross.
Hull No Place for Hate will hold a celebration at Wellspring Multi-Service Center, 814 Nantasket Avenue featuring a food drive, readings, poetry and music from ten to eleven-thirty Monday morning.
