Man In Custody Following Police Chase In Wareham

A Wareham man is facing charges following a police chase.

Wareham Police say that shortly before 5 p.m. Friday an officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop with a white sedan on Minot Ave.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Lovell Johnson, allegedly failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit throughout the Wareham and Onset sections of town.

At one point the officers deployed “Stop Sticks” but Johnson continued to drive erratically even with deflated tires.

Police say the vehicle eventually became disabled and stopped in the Onset section of town where a brief foot pursuit ensued before Johnson was taken into custody without incident.

Johnson was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Wareham 4th District Court for various motor vehicle violations and a charge of resisting arrest.
