Rockland Residents have turned down both Override Questions in the Annual Town Election.
The results for the 2025 Rockland Annual Town Election are in. Rockland had two contested races this year, one for seats on the Selectboard and one for the role of Park Commissioner, and the town faced two override questions related to the Fire Department
The winners of the Selectboard seats are Lori Childs, who was the candidate for re-election, and Steven G O’Donnel Jr.. The candidates won with 873 and 986 votes respectively against the other two candidates Mary Parsons and Jacqueline Tieso who received 806 and 703 votes respectively. The race for Park Commissioner was won by Peter Ewell, who defeated his opponent Richard Furlong 1239 votes to 508 votes. These two races were the only two contested races on the ballot.
Neither of the two override questions on the ballot passed at the polls. Question 1 would have allowed the town to collect the $2,000,000 necessary to purchase a new ladder truck for the Fire Department, and Question 2 would have exempted the town from proposition two and a half in order to fund a new Fire Station in the town. Question 1 failed by 79 votes at a count of 906 to 985, and question 2 failed by 872 votes at a count of 1013 to 1885.
The remainder of the races and their results are below.
