In Plymouth, State Senator Dylan Fernandes brought Senate President, Karen Spilka, to town to tour the historic sites. Following that, they spoke at a seaside press conference, at the Visitor Center on Water Street, about how the Fiscal Year 2026 budget is benefiting the area—and how it will continue to do so.

Senate President Karen Spilka:
“In particular, coming to Plymouth, the birthplace of America, it’s emotional to be here. I think that it’s hard for anybody, especially as an American, to not feel that emotion, that pride and the sense of beauty that’s here and the recognition that this is where it started.”
State Senator Dylan Fernandes:
“Today’s all about celebrating everything that Plymouth has to offer and really leaning in for our support for the tourism industry understanding that it is the backbone of our economy here, And so it’s really important that as a State, we’re supporting it, and in the Senate we did just that—with many earmarks specifically for the Town of Plymouth to expand tourism.”
And the delegation brought a gift:
“We brought a car! We’re buying another vehicle for the Town of Plymouth, through a Senate amendment that I’m so fortunate to have the support of the Senate President in securing. And that’s going to expand access to downtown from Kingston so that more people can enjoy everything that Plymouth has to offer.”
