Matt Pitta, the Director of Communications from The Davenport Companies, joins us at 7:10 to talk about the future of the Cape Cod Canal bridges. The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and several local companies formed an advocacy group last year called the Cape & Islands Bridges Coalition. The group has been working to help move forward the replacement of the aging Bourne and Sagamore Bridges – which are in dire need of replacement. https://www.capecodchamber.org/your-chamber/public-policy/policy-priorities/bridges

Local author Mary Ford joins us at 8:41 to talk about her second book: “Rebecca Road: A Tale of Shipwreck, Love, and Second Chances”. “Rebecca Road” takes place in Scituate in 1956 and follows the salvage of the Etrusco, the Italian freighter that crashed during a late winter Nor’easter. Apart from the freighter, the book is entirely fiction. Mary’s family lived on Wompatuck Road near Cedar Point at that time and as a little girl, she watched the work to free the ship every day. Interestingly, the Scituate Historical Society is planning events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the grounding next year. https://www.amazon.com/Rebecca-Road-Shipwreck-Second-Chances/dp/1662949502
