A Whitman man wanted by Florida authorities for violating his probation as a sex offender has been arrested.
Forty-nine-year-old Forrest Santos was taken into custody by Whitman police Thursday on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Whitman police Chief Timothy Hanlon says that the Palm Beach County Sheriff had issued a nationwide extradition warrant for Santos who was living in Whitman.
Authorities say that Whitman detectives and the Plymouth County Sheriff warrant apprehension unit spotted Hanlon’s car on Plymouth Street during surveillance.
Detectives stopped the vehicle and arrested Santos.
Police say that Santos has been on probation for possessing and viewing child pornography. He violated his probation after he was charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle by Abington police in May.
Santos was to be arraigned in Brockton District Court Friday.
