Four people were hospitalized following a crash involving an ambulance.
East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins and Fire Chief John Dzialo say that at approximately 9:47 a.m. they were dispatched to the intersection of Bedford Street (Route 18) and West Street (Route 106) for a report of a crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Bridgewater Fire Department ambulance, with its emergency lights and siren activated, was traveling on Route 18 while transporting a patient to Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital when it collided with a passenger vehicle.
Additional ambulances from East Bridgewater and Bridgewater were called in to transport the two firefighters/paramedics who were inside the ambulance, the patient being transported, and a passenger from the other vehicle.
They were taken to area hospitals with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the East Bridgewater Police Department.
