A Milford man is facing charges after an alleged carjacking attempt.

Braintree Police say that just before 8 p.m. Sunday a man was waiting in his car in front of a store on Grossman Dr.

A man then approached the vehicle and began talking to the man through the vehicle’s window, at one point producing a knife and telling the man, “You have insurance, get out of the car.”

A struggle ensued and the victim sustained laceration-type injuries to his forearm, hand, and upper chest.

The alleged attacker fled the scene as the man’s family exited the store and began yelling at the suspect.

The victim’s family members and other bystanders pursued the suspect, who jumped a fence and ran along the Red Line and Commuter Rail tracks.

Police responded to the scene and an officer climbed over the fence and pursued the subject, watching him duck into a wood line off the tracks.

Two officers then approached and gave commands to the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Justin Kilburn, and were able to take him into custody without further incident.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a Boston hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were able to recover evidence on-scene, including a knife that it’s believed was used during the incident.

Kilburn is being charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon; Carjacking, Armed; Witness Intimidation; and Possession of Class B (Adderall) and Class E Drug (Gabapentin).
