A car stolen from a Door Dash Driver was found in Duxbury Sunday afternoon.
Duxbury Police say that at approximately 1 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Tremont St. and West St. where a driver stated that his car had been struck by a gray Honda Civic which then fled the scene.
The driver told officers they followed the car before it turned into a driveway on Enterprise Dr., where officers were able to stop it before it left the scene.
Officers asked the driver for a license and registration, she claimed to have neither but said she was licensed to drive in Mississippi.
She said she pulled into the driveway to smoke marijuana, and showed officers a joint and a bag of marijuana while identifying herself as Layla Marie.
Police say officers determined it was a false name and she repeatedly provided multiple false names, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.
It was later determined that the vehicle was registered to a Door Dash driver from Nashua, N.H. and the driver said it was stolen while he was making a delivery in Brighton.
The driver was ultimately identified as 20-year-old Essence Booker of Boston, and it was determined she didn’t have a valid driver’s license in either Mississippi or Massachusetts.
She was taken into custody on charges Receiving Stolen Property Over 1200; Motor Vehicle Operator Refusing To Identify; Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Use of a Motor Vehicle Without Authority; and Possession of Marijuana.
