Cohasset Town Manager Chris Senior announced that he would not seek a contract renewal at a recent Select Board meeting.
Senior announced his decision before the public comment period of the Select Board meeting and left after announcement.
Cohasset resident Jennifer Chu spoke favorably of the decision.
Both the town manager and select board faced criticism from residents.
Emma Kagan said she was also pleased with the decision, but said that other town leaders need to self-reflect as well. During the meeting, she accused Select Board members Ellen Maher and Paul Grady of ridiculing and ignoring her when she asked for the meetings to be more ADA-accessible.
Maher told WATD that when she reviewed her correspondence with Kagan she did not feel that she belittled her, but was sorry if that’s how she felt.
Maher said the town leaders are working on a plan to move forward.
As town leaders look to adjust to this abrupt change, they will also have to prepare for the Special Town Meeting on November 3rd.
Before the meeting returned to a public session, two residents confronted Senior in the hallway delaying the start of the meeting by 20 minutes.
During the confrontation, two police officers responded and remained present during a majority of the meeting for around an hour.
