In Plymouth, the Town Manager’s Christmas party on Thursday, the 11th, at Vitamin Sea Brewing, became a celebration honoring retiring Planning Director Lee Hartmann, with tributes from State Senator Dylan Fernande, State Representative Kathy LaNatra and many town officials, Hartmann’s  37 year career was celebrated.

Town Manager Derek Brindisi:

“Lee Hartmann, who has been our long time Planning Director, retired on December 5th, after 37 years of service to this community.  He’s done so much as far as move this community forward over the course of his career—everything from some of the work he’s done around economic development and planning, and working with the Select Board when he was serving as the Acting Town manager. So these  were difficult times in the town’s history and Lee Hartmann was always the individual who was able to steer the course.”

And during those 37 years, the town’s population increased by almost 50 percent—resulting in a significant increase in development—development overseen by Lee Hartmann’s office of Planning and Development.

“So, we have the Pine Hills, which was the first project, and then Cordage Park, the second one, and then Redbrook. Each one is  different but they’ve all been very successful, and it’s been a great privilege to work with the community—to work in a community that had the ability to look at something outside of what you would normally do to have something very unique happen.  So, I’ve been very fortunate.”

Many town officials presented Lee with fun gifts like DPW Director William Coyle who named an imaginary street after him.
