In Plymouth, babies, toddlers, teenagers and seniors are included in the programs offered by the town’s recreation department—this according to Recreation Director Anne Slusser. All these programs are listed in the recreation guide recently sent to all residents.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more….
Recreation Director Anne Slusser:
“We start as young as 12 months old for some of our classes and activity like free play set-up and then we go all the way up to active older adults that participate in pickle ball, yoga, country line-dancing is a very popular activity for the adults too.”
And the Recreation Director talks about the most popular programs:
“So for our young children, probably our most popular is going to be our smart soccer program- our T-ball program. It’s our learning program for ages 3 to 6.”
And for the next age group, middle school, older kids, what is very popular is…
“..probably flag football. We have about 400 plus kids playing each season in the spring and in the fall. And then, for adults, definitely pickle ball, Pickle ball is obviously the most popular for everybody. And then I would say Pilates and country line dancing and yoga.”
Slusser says the department partners with other sports outlets:
“Smiling Mike Dojo-it’s a karate facility on Long Pond Road that we partner with to offer pre-school and intro to karate programs. And then Village Sports Club is in the Pine Hills; we work with them to offer tennis and pickle ball lessons.”
Registration for winter classes is currently open and registration and payment can be made online at www.plymouthrec.com or call 508-747-1620, extension 10137.
