Crews were called to Halifax Elementary School on Tuesday over concerns of heightened carbon monoxide readings.

Fire officials say the readings were caused by a boiler malfunction and, as a precaution, the school opening was delayed for a few hours while crews ventilated the building.

The building was cleared and students were allowed to return to class around 10 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
