A Hanover home was damaged by fire.
Fire officials say a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report a fire at 553 Center Street around 6:15 Sunday morning.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with smoke coming from the basement of the two-story single-family home.
Firefighters located a small exterior fire that had extended into the basement, with heavy smoke conditions throughout the residence.
Crews were able to contain and quickly extinguish the fire.
Officials credited the quick action by firefighters with preventing the extension of flames that limited damage.
Damage was estimated at $50,000.
Rockland, Hanson, Pembroke, and Marshfield assisted at the scene with Norwell covering Hanover’s station.
No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
