Almost Famous is our Award-Winning local music show produced and hosted by WATD Music Director, John Shea. When you listen to Almost Famous every Tuesday night, you’ll hear original music. Written, performed and produced by independent musicians from across New England…with a strong focus on the South Shore and Boston. And each week John features a local band or musician for an interview and in-studio performance on the WATD “Tiny Stage” sponsored by Tiny & Sons Glass in Pembroke.

Since its inception, Almost Famous has been recognized by The Massachusetts Broadcasters Association, The Boston Music Awards, The Limelight Music Awards, South Shore Living Magazine, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald and The Patriot Ledger.
In 2018, John was presented with The Decade Award from the New England Music Awards for his dedication and commitment to the local music community.

More about John
John started with WATD in their website department fresh out of college. Today John is now Music Director and helps write and produce public service messages for non-profit organizations across the South Shore community.
In 2011, John started Almost Famous; WATD’s multi-award winning local music show focusing on new independent bands and musicians from across the South Shore, Boston and New England.
Catch John with the best songs on the radio Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 10pm-1am on 95.9 WATD.
In addition to WATD, John is the full-time producer for Talking Information Center, a non-profit radio station whose mission is to read newspapers and magazines to the print impaired population of Massachusetts.
When not at WATD you can usually find John at music clubs in and around Boston checking out the latest bands and musicians. And yes, he only gets about 5 hours of sleep a night!
