Ongoing Ideas

The South Shore YMCA in Hanover hosts a Kids’ Night out every Saturday night from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Emilson branch, 75 Mill Street. Drop the kiddos for a night of fun at the Y then head out and enjoy some adult time as the kids play, explore and learn with the caring staff of the Y. There will be bounce houses, movies, games, pizza and more! This is designed for kids 6 weeks to 11 years old and the cost is $20 per child for SSYMCA members and $25 per child for non-members.

Open Barnyard is back at Weir River Farm in Hingham today from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Spring has arrived at the farm – and with it arrives a barnyard full of wide-eyed baby animals. Throughout the spring, join Weir River as they welcome lambs, chicks and piglets to the barnyard (pigs may not arrive until May). Nutmeg the pony, Billy the goat, and the other barnyard regulars are also excited to see you after a long winter. Visit the barnyard with your family to brush a goat, make a barnyard craft, pet a chicken, and more. Talk to a friendly farmer and learn more about life of the farm. While you’re there, take a walk on one of the many farm trails and experience all that Weir River Farm has to offer! Every Saturday, 10am-2pm unless otherwise noted. Parking located at 140 Turkey Hill Lane, then walk down the farm “chute” to the barnyard. (Consider using a baby carrier in lieu of a stroller; the walk down the hill isn’t well suited for average strollers.)

The third Sunday every month until October you can enjoy the Cranland Airport fly-in breakfast in Halifax! You’ll be able to lots of interested aircraft up close – just please, don’t touch! You can see the planes fly in and take off too, and enjoy breakfast for a great price – $7 for adults and $3 for kids which includes scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Fly, drive, walk or bike – this event is open to the public and kicks off at 8:00 a.m. and usually runs until about 11:00 a.m. They stop serving breakfast around 10:30 a.m. or when the food runs out! This event helps to support the EAA (experimental aircraft association) chapter 279. https://www.facebook.com/Cranland-Airport-144182855604045/
