Driver Charged with Striking BSU Students

A Weymouth driver is charged with attempted murder after video evidence apparently shows he intentionally struck two Bridgewater State University students on campus.

The incident happened Saturday morning during Homecoming Weekend.

The President of BSU, Fred Clark, sent out a campus-wide letter to inform the “10,000 students, staff, faculty librarians and visitors on campus for homecoming weekend about the terrible situation.”

He goes on to say the suspect, a man in his 40’s from East Weymouth, had been involved in an earlier road rage incident in East Bridgewater.

Of the two students hit, one remains in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other student suffered minor injuries. The University says there is no evidence the suspect targeted those specific students.

The name of the suspect has not been released.

He was taken for a psych evaluation, but he is criminally charged with attempted murder and numerous motor vehicle violations.
