A man is facing charges after being found passed out behind the wheel of a truck.
Wareham Police say that at about 10:45 a.m. Monday officers were dispatched to Wareham Crossing where they found an unresponsive male, identified only as a 28-year-old man from Yarmouth, in a running, locked vehicle, on the main roadway in the plaza.
Chief John Walcek broke out the passenger side window with his baton so the man could be removed from the vehicle.
The vehicle then began to move forward and an officer had to smash out the driver’s side window, reach in, and turn the vehicle off.
Emergency medical procedures, including administering Narcan, were performed and the man was revived before being transported to Tobey Hospital for further evaluation.
The man is being summoned to court for operating under the influence, and operating to endanger.
Officers were called to a local business later in the day for a report of a suspicious person and discovered it was the Yarmouth man.
It was later discovered that he was in possession of heroin and a needle and is also being charged with possession of a Class “A” drug.
