In Plymouth, every ten years, following the federal census, election district boundaries must be redrawn.
Work on this project began last summer with Town Clerk Pearl Sears, former Town Clerk Laurence Pizer and a working group of residents assisting. The result is a new map, showing a jump from 15 to 18 precincts and the state has put its seal of approval on it.
Bobbi Clark Clark has more:
Former Town Clerk Laurence Pizer says state approval occurred last week:
“Well, it’s final. I’m very delighted that the state on Thursday, the local election district review commission, approved the map that was submitted by Plymouth.”
The new map shows Representative Kathy LaNatra having a larger presence in Plymouth:
“We were able to create a map with 18 precincts that reflected the state representative districts that were imposed on the town before we did the re-precincting .That means that five of the precincts in north and west Plymouth are going to be part of what’s now Representative LaNatra’s district, going all the way down to Precinct 3. And then the rest of Plymouth will be part of what’s now 1st Plymouth or Representative Muratore’s district.”
