A Weymouth man has died following a crash in Quincy.

The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office says that just after 7 p.m. Monday officers were dispatched to a crash with serious injuries on the Southern Artery near Broad St.

A preliminary investigation has indicated that 58-year-old William Jacobs was struck by a car while attempting to cross the Southern Artery.

He was transported to a Boston hospital where he succumbed to his injuries Tuesday morning.

The District Attorney’s Office says the driver of the car, identified as an 82-year-old Quincy man, was not injured and no charges were immediately filed.

The cause of the crash has not been determined and remains under investigation by officers of the Quincy Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.
